The Riches of God

In our reading from Paul’s letter today, we have the conclusion of the section that I started talking about last weekend that I said is my favorite section of Romans. Part of the reason for that being my favorite section is what we have for the reading today: “oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God.” Now that’s the way it is translated in the reading we had. There is another translation that says: “oh the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God.” Subtle difference, it puts the emphasis on the different thing. It’s defining what the riches of God are that way. The riches of God, in that sense, then are the wisdom and knowledge of God. That’s the base for how we live our lives. It is obtaining the wisdom and the knowledge of God.
