How much are you willing to sacrifice?

There is an interesting line in Paul’s reading this morning. He said “For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my own people, my kindred, according to the flesh.” Is he saying in that that he wishes he were condemned to hell? I don’t think so.
I think rather what he’s talking about is that he would rather endure any kind of suffering, any kind of loss of the blessings of God, here on earth for the sake of those who he knew should be coming and joining the Christian faith.
How many of you feel some heartache because someone you know has walked away from the church. Maybe it’s children. Maybe it’s your parents. Maybe it’s friends, brothers or sisters. How many of you feel some heartache inside of you, because something is missing in the community of God? Paul had the same thing.
He even went so far in his statement to say “I would rather be considered cursed if only they would come.” Have you been willing to sacrifice that much? What kind of sacrifice are you willing to make for those that you …read more
