First of all I want to thank you for your prayers during my retreat this week. It proved one thing to me: God has a pretty good sense of humor. I woke up Thursday and my heart was racing way too fast. I went to the emergency room, and they discovered that my heart was beating out of rhythm, and way too fast. So they gave me medicine to force my heart back into rhythm, and sent me home. Now, what is humorous is that the meditations for the day on my retreat were on death and judgement! God’s sense of humor!
The Feast of the Holy Family. This is very hard feast day to preach on. I mean, look at all our families in comparison to the Holy Family: Jesus, the son of God, committed no sins; Mary, the mother of God, was born without sin, so she committed no sins; so that left any problems in the house coming from St. Joseph!
Well, that is a silly joke. Because making mistakes is not the same as sinning. Not all mistakes are sins, but all sins are mistakes. The Gospels tell us that Jesus grew in the wisdom of God and …read more
